There is a funny story behind Reilly that I feel
I should tell. I made a trip to Halifax in Sept. 99 to take in the dog shows on
Labour Day Weekend. At the time I was looking for a Tri-Female but didn't expect
to get anything while on this trip, I was just going along as a learning
exercise. Well something funny must have happened on the way to and from Halifax
because here I was going back home with a Sable Male. A Sable Male was the
furthest thing from my mind that I might potentially purchase while on this trip.
Well then I meet Reilly and from the first moment he took to me like I have not
seen him take to anybody since. He practically took me back to the car, and said
"Come On" we got a boat to catch to Newfoundland. Now Reilly is my
special boy who has taught me more about handling and training a sheltie then
all the dogs I have had before or since. We all should remember with an easy dog
you learn nothing about training and handling dogs. The dog does most of the
work and we follow with the lead, it's only with a challenge do we learn and
that's if we are brave enough to stick with it and not give up. |
