Welcome to SuShine Cavaliers

   We have owned dogs all our lives- that is my husband (Blain) and myself (Susan). Some of the breeds I have lived with Pekingese, Cocker Spaniel and together Irish Setter, Puli and then Shelties along with our 3 sons-Chris, Jon and David,  I began showing and later breeding Shetland Sheepdogs in 1976. In 1981 I registered my kennel name as SuShine and later on had it permanently registered with Canadian Kennel Club after producing 10 Champions. Our home is located in Murray Siding on 2 acres on the outskirts of Truro-the hub of Nova Scotia  in eastern Canada. We have lived here since 1974. I am a Life member in good standing with the following Clubs, Canadian Kennel Club since 1981, Cobequid Dog Club  since 1976 and Cavalier King Charles Club of Canada.

    As our youngest  son moved on in his life I decided I wanted a smaller dog with less energy and upkeep. Having seen a Cavalier many years ago I searched and studied the breed and finally added one to our household in 1997.

    Today there are no Shelties here and at the moment 5 Cavaliers living with us. I have been a breeder for over 30 years and have completed over 50 Sheltie Championships and so far 21 Cavalier Championships. I  have taught Obedience classes for many many years and have 25+ Obedience titles. We have  2 Best in Show on Shelties and 1 Best in Specialty Show Sheltie. I would have to say one of the best titles placed on my dogs are 4 ROMs (Registry of Merit Canada) awarded by the CSSA for having produced a set number of champions. Males must have produced 10 Champions and females 5 champions. Am/Can Ch. Sushines Highlander ROMC  with help from Breeya Barbree-without her this title would be lost; Ch. Laureates Texan At Nationview ROMC (again many thanks to Kim Delaney on this award) and Sushines Zippity Zaina, CD, CGC ROMC and Ch.SuShines Aberdale Silver Bells ROMC (owned by Heather Walton, Aberdale Shelties)   

    Now it is the Cavaliers turn and Ch. Quinderias Su Shine Tilly ROM has produced 5 Champions  and Ch Sushines American Cruiser has produced 9 Champions so we are working on that too to make it 10- right Karen??? Ch SuShines American Dream ROM has 5 champions.

    These Cavaliers are very versatile and although I do put on the Championship titles I spend more time with performance events  and have loads of fun in Obedience, Rally-O, Therapy Dog work, agility, conformation, Free Style Dance, Good Neighbour Citizen and tricks. Cruiser was #5 Cavalier in Canada in 2003, his son Oscar now sports the title CFC Elite Ch/CanCh Sushines Out Of This Whirl CGC,RN,CD,RA and #4 top Cavalier in 2009.  Another top highlight was Glory winning High In Trial in Halifax 2014- our first HIT on a Cavalier.
